Facilities Manager
Castello di Amorosa Winery

Timothy Dexter has been with Castello Di Amorosa Winery for over 6 years and currently leads as the Facilities Manager. Prior to Castello di Amorosa, Tim provided operational, management, and financial services to Pacific Union College (PUC). The expertise Timothy gained while working with PUC in water treatment, waste water treatment, and facilities management prepared him for the challenges to come at Castello Di Amorosa. Over the past 10 years, Napa Valley has been plagued by fires, flooding, and earthquakes. In the face of these unfortunate disasters, Timothy has had to adapt to ever-changing environmental challenges. In addition to his primary job functions, he has spearheaded other programs and projects for the Winery, such as the Castello's Green Initiative, certified by Napa County. Timothy also has direct oversite of the facility's processed water treatment plant, which reuses 100% of all water used during production of wine in the facility.

Over the past couple of years, one of his primary efforts has been the implementation of Castello Di Amorosa's new PV system array with Battery Energy Storage back-up. In addition to the cost benefits of solar plus storage, Tim's desire for creating a reliable back-up power source can be traced back to the 2017 Tubb's Fire, when Castello, along with many other wineries in the valley, endured a weeklong power outage due to the fires and equipment failure. Fires have directly or indirectly affected Castello every year, either through consistent PG&E PSPS events or most recently by the Glass Fire of 2020 which destroyed one of the main buildings. In the past, Castello has relied solely on Generator power to keep wine fermenting and production moving during power failures, which typically happen in the middle of Harvest season. With the addition of the PV system and battery back-up, Tim's goal is to create a more robust and PG&E PSPS/Fire-proof system that allows the winery to operate normally and keep redundancy as a primary objective.

Timothy Dexter studied at La Sierra University, Walla Walla University, and Pacific Union College where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Business Administration.
