Umar Waqas is Director of Engineering Services at Energy+ Inc, where for the past five years he has led the engineering and metering teams to enable the safe and reliable service of electricity to end consumers. Energy+ Inc. is a local distribution company that delivers electricity to residential, commercial, industrial and institutional customers in the City of Cambridge, Township of North Dumfries and County of Brant in Canada. The company is responsible for over 2,000 kilometres of power lines, delivering electricity to approximately 65,000 customers across 602 square kilometers of service territory.
Prior to his current position, Umar was an energy efficiency engineer, also at Energy+, where he supported high profile businesses in the local community to complete energy conservation initiatives, including the grid connection of one of Ontario's largest behind-the-meter generation facilities. He has also worked as an energy management advisor at North Bay Hydro, and as a consultant at METSCO Energy Solutions. Umar holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from McMaster University, and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
